Maison Margiela proudly presents the world's first "Broken Mirror" pop-up at Pacific Place from September 3rd to 18th, with Hong Kong being the first to debut this concept.

The space captures a frozen moment, where a shattered mirror cube is about to crumble, revealing a dark and sophisticated interior with aged wooden floor and mirrored stainless steel fixtures. A subtle and mysterious sound of breaking glass will enhance the immersive experience. With this unexpected and unique space, Maison Margiela invites people to honor the passage of time and the memories attached, capturing the poetic essence of the mirror’s break.

The brand will showcase its iconic 5AC bags, Glam Slam bags, the new Broken Mirror Tabi, and the Metallic family.

Driven by instinct, the Maison is devoted to uncompromising creativity invigorated by values of authenticity, radicality and self-expression. The maison’s code – dressing in haste, the anonymity of the lining and the ”décortiqué” – is translated into the physical space. The decortiqué technique exposes the essential frames of an item normally hidden from view by cutting out any areas but the seams or boning, which hold it together.

Reflection of light and metallic silver hues have been integral to Maison Margiela's DNA since 1989. Creative Director John Galliano has continued to reinterpret this and seamlessly translates it into the brand's collections. The silver paint of the Tabi is cracked, while the 5AC is painted with a sponge revealing a metallic silver leather. As the mirror gradually breaks down over time, the natural calf leather underneath will be revealed, making each item a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

For the Fall/Winter 24 AVP collection, metallic silver is reimagined as a seasonal accent on the iconic 5AC and Glam Slam bags, while the Broken Mirror Tabi is revitalized with dark grey hues. Bold and unapologetic, this interpretation captures the luminous and poetic essence that has defined Maison Margiela's DNA for over three decades. Maison Margiela will also debut the Asia Pacific exclusive GLAM SLAM Embroidery bag at the pop-up. Crafted from luxurious nappa lambskin, the timeless design is equally suitable for off-duty looks or festive occasions. It can be worn as a shoulder style or carried by hand, featuring a quilted matelassé construction sewn meticulously by artisans for unparalleled softness and suppleness.

Maison Margiela's Fall/Winter 2024 collection takes inspiration from the effortless elegance of screen legend Katharine Hepburn. Known for her "off-duty" persona, Hepburn's iconic style has long captured the imagination of fashion enthusiasts.

Titled Informal Formality, the collection explores the concept of formality through tailored silhouettes and elevated workwear. Nodding to Hepburn's visionary approach to style, the designs reimagine gender archetypes, transcending the boundaries of traditional femininity and masculinity. She was dressed in classic men’s tailoring to keep memories of her deceased brother alive, adapting a Boyish Sensibility. The collection also features a reinterpretation of School Uniforms, with accents of collegiate hues like burgundy and dark green paired with soft, powdery pastels on the jersey selection, including buff, sand, beige and washed black. The crisp white and shirting blue Oxford base lends an air of effortless sophistication.

This nonchalant sensibility is evident in the soft shoulders of outerwear, the casual shrug of a jacket, and the intentionally pilled textures of the knitwear. Maison Margiela's signature "greasy patina" technique imbues each piece with a unique character, seamlessly uniting the house's commitment to craftsmanship and innovation. The collection captures the essence of Hepburn’s rebellious spirit and elegance she manifests in her private moments.

About Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela is a fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. The Paris-based house  is synonymous with uniquely unconventional principles, and a philosophy in which deconstruction and heritage  go hand in hand to create designs that showcase fashion as an art of meaning rather than a cult of personality.  John Galliano was named Creative Director in 2014, bringing his sense of spectacle and creative mastery to the  unique ethos of the house. Maison Margiela crosses the fashion spectrum from its ‘Artisanal’ collection, which has held the “Haute Couture” appellation since 2012, through ready-to-wear and accessories. Maison Margiela  became part of OTB in 2002.
